Brick Paving

Brick Driveway

Brick Patios, Brick Walkways, Brick Driveways

There are multiple brick design options from different colors, sizes and shapes to make a beautiful pattern for your patio, walkway, driveway, stairs, walls and other hardscapes.

My Landscape Contractor can use these options to help you build the landscape of your dreams, with beautiful landscaping and brick-paved structures.

Initial Meeting & Design Process

Initial meetings consist of learning about your ambitions and gathering information like sizes, materials, textures, colors, shapes and other details that will help understand your vision.

A complete site analysis will take place. Existing landscape, deck structures, utility location, elevations, and drainage patterns are among the items we locate to help us with the planning.

An average budget that you are comfortable with this project

After the initial meeting, an initial design is created for your review along with an initial proposal. It is typical to go through one or two revisions before reaching a final design. The final presentation typically includes a plan with details ready for construction, 3D computer images of your project and a cost estimate.

Once the design is approved we get to work on your project. Clients enjoy watching the digital design come to life as their landscape is transformed, and there is constant and clear communication wit you from the beginning stages to the final touches.

Required For Typical Patio:

The essential parts of a brick patio are: Base or foundation, leveling bed, drainage, brick or pavers, perimeter restraint, and joint filler. For a typical residential brick patio the following items will be required:

Base or foundation: Minimum excavation for a brick patio is 8” to 10” deep. The gravel base is typically 4” to 6” deep and should always be compacted in layers. Each layer depth will vary depending on the capacity of the plate compactor being used. The footprint of the gravel base should always be at least 6” larger than the finish patio perimeter for extra support

The sand leveling bed is 1” and should also be compacted. The proper slope for a brick patio is 1/4″ for every foot or about 2% of the run.

Brick or Pavers: there are hundreds of choices when it comes to brick pavers. Quality, texture, color, and availability should be the main factors when making your choice selection

The perimeter restraint is what holds the edge of the patio in place. The most common type is a plastic edge with metal spikes

The joint filler is applied last, it is always recommended to use polymeric joint sand to ensure joint stability and help to prevent any shifting as time goes by.

Maintenance For Brick Patios, Brick Walkways, Brick Driveways and other Brick Landscape Structures.

Regular maintenance is advised every 2 to 3 years. Maintenance includes a close inspection to identify possible problems and address them before becoming a larger issue. Pressure wash to remove any soil deposits in the joints, mold or stains. Once the surface has dried  new polymeric jointing sand is installed and a protective water-based sealer is applied.

(My Landscape Contractor does not maintain brick structures that are not part of standard landscapes. Bricks on your home and chimney would require maintenance from another professional).
